Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA"--the Gay Version

I know, I know--Miley freakin' Cyrus!? But this song is just so catchy and fun and happy, and it's forever stuck in my head! But I probably wouldn't have heard it if it weren't for this video by some gay guys frolicking in New York's Fire Island Pines. They basically did their own video to Miley's song, and it all just makes me happy. I'm only human! After all, who can resist a Disney teen poplet teamed with cute guys in swim trunks?



Why hasn't Disney tried this combo yet? Pure gold, baby. And to Miss Miley's credit, I do think this one has some talent and staying power. So thank you Fire Island Pines boys--and thank you, Miley. Peace out.

Truth be told, my taste in men veers toward the non-white. Of course, 'round these parts it's mostly lily white! Hmmm, a beach in the Phillippines is looking really good right about now!

Evening Primrose in Bloom!

These flowers are so fun to watch as they bloom. You literally see them unfurl open right before your eyes--pop! The blooms open at dusk, which is around 8:45 right now, and then last just the one night. They die back in the sun the next day, but more blooms pop each day. Plus, the plants put out tons of seeds, so you'll have even more the next year! They also have a faint lemony fragrance.

Coneflower in Bloom!

Took this pic last night of the (pitiful) purple coneflower, or echinacea, in our garden. I say pitiful because if it weren't for the deer, these would be much more full by now. The deer munched on the earliest buds. But now it's back, and I guess the deer have found tastier fare elsewhere. If you haven't grown any of these yourself, give them a try. They're beautiful, hardy and typically easy to grow.

I also will post pics of our blooming evening primrose--which also survived "Attack of the Critters!"

Took this pic last night of the (pitiful) purple coneflower, or echinacea, in our garden. I say pitiful because if it weren't for the deer, these would be much more full by now. The deer munched on the earliest buds. But now it's back, and I guess the deer have found tastier fare elsewhere. If you haven't grown any of these yourself, give them a try. They're beautiful, hardy and typically easy to grow.

Boys of Summer 09 #1: Refreshing Dip

Now that it's officially summer, I thought I'd have a little fun and post regular "Boys of Summer" photos that catch my eye. I simply want to celebrate the natural beauty of the male form. Too often in our culture, men's bodies are considered offensive or ugly. Makes sense in a patriarchal society, I suppose. How dreary...

So here's the first, a nice black-and-white of two enjoying a summer swim in the lake.

And it seems those computer glitches have been resolved!
