FELICITY JONES

FELICITY PROFILE

Name : Felicity Jones
Birth Of Date :19 January 1984
Place Of Birth : Birmingham, UK
Occupation: Actress
Sign : Capricorn
Years active: 1996–present

FELICITY JONES BIOGRAPHY

Felicity Jones (born 19 January 1984) is an English actress from Birmingham. She is best known to television audiences for her role as the school bully Ethel Hallow in the first series of The Worst Witch (she was replaced by Katie Allen for series two and three) and its sequel Weirdsister College. Jones also co-starred in Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant's feature Cemetery Junction.
Jones grew up in Bournville, near Birmingham. Her parents met while working at the Wolverhampton Express and Star. Her father was a journalist while her mother was in advertising. They divorced when she was three, and she was raised with her brother by her mother alone. Despite this, she says her family are "extremely close."

After Kings Norton Girls' School, Jones attended King Edward VI Handsworth School, to complete A Levels and went on to take a gap year (during which she appeared in the BBC series Servants). She then read English at Wadham College, Oxford, graduating with a 2:1 in 2006. Whilst studying English, she appeared in student plays, including Attis in which she played the title role, and, in 2005, Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors for the OUDS summer tour to Japan, starring alongside Harry Lloyd.

Jones was encouraged to take up acting by her father, and later, by her uncle, the actor Michael Hadley. Her mother was also passionate about film and theatre. She began acting at 11 at an after-school workshop funded by Central Television. Jones appeared in the first series of The Worst Witch, after which she was replaced by Katie Allen. She left the series because she missed home. When Weirdsister College began in 2001, Jones returned as Hallow. During the shooting of Weirdsister College she was just seventeen, lived in a flat in Richmond and had a private tutor to get her through her 'A' levels. Her longest and probably best known role overall was on the BBC Radio 4 soap opera The Archers, where she played Emma Carter (who is now played by Emerald O'Hanrahan).

She took the leading role in the 2007 ITV adaptation of Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey and made her stage debut in Polly Stenham's That Face at the Royal Court Theatre in April 2007.

In 2008, she appeared in the films Brideshead Revisited and Flashbacks of a Fool, the Doctor Who episode "The Unicorn and the Wasp" and a revival of Enid Bagnold's The Chalk Garden at the Donmar Warehouse theatre in London between 5 June and 2 August 2008.

In January 2009, the 5-part TV serial The Diary of Anne Frank, in which Jones played the role of Margot Frank alongside Tamsin Greig (as Edith Frank-Holländer) and Iain Glen (as Otto Frank), was broadcast on BBC One. Later that year in May, she performed in a rehearsed reading of Anthony Minghella's Hang Up at the High Tide Festival.

Jones plays the role of Julie in Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's Cemetery Junction (2010). She also appeared in Soulboy and in Julie Taymor's big screen adaptation of The Tempest as Miranda. She will star in the noir science-fiction thriller The Scribbler, directed by Jake West.

On 29 January 2011, Jones won a Special Jury Prize (Dramatic) at the Sundance Film Festival for her performance as Anna in Drake Doremus's Like Crazy. She had to do her own hair and make-up in the film while the dialogue was entirely improvised. Her performance earned comparisons to Carey Mulligan's Academy Award-nominated role in An Education. She appeared in Chalet Girl, a romantic comedy released in March 2011, for which she had to undergo two months of snowboarding training and work undercover in a chalet at St Anton, scrubbing toilets and partying at the Krazy Kanguruh bar in preparation for the role. Jones said the role was "something of a relief" after a string of costume roles. She was also keen to take on a comic role.

Jones performed in Luise Miller, a new translation of Schiller's Kabale und Liebe by Mike Poulton at the Donmar Warehouse theatre in London, in June and July 2011.[11] She turned down the title role in The Brothers Grimm: Snow White to appear in the play, to the amazement of director Michael Grandage. Grandage acknowledged: "Everything else has had to be moved to accommodate [the play]… at a time when her career has gone sky-high." Jones lived with a Catholic family and attended Mass to prepare for the role.
In 2011, Jones was announced as the new face of Burberry.

Jones currently lives in Bethnal Green, in London's East End, with her long-term boyfriend, Ed Fornieles, who is a sculptor and conceptual artist. She and Fornieles met at Oxford when he was at the Ruskin School of Art.

She met fellow actress Keira Knightley in The Treasure Seekers. They remain in touch, although Jones says she is closer to Carey Mulligan.

Jones said she is "not from a religious background, so I’ve never understood it."

KATE BECKINSALE BIOGRAPHY

KATE BECKINSALE PROFILE

Full Name: Kathryn Bailey Beckinsale

Date Of Birth: 26 July 1973

Place Of Birth: Finsbury Park, North London, England, UK

Occupation: Actress

Years active : 1991–present

Spouse: Len Wiseman (m. 2004–present)
Michael Sheen, ex-boyfriend (1995 to 2003)

Parents: Richard Beckinsale - Judy Loe

Height: 5' 8''

Education: Godolphin and Latymer School in London, England
New College, Oxford University in Oxford, England (majored in French and Russian Literature; dropped out after third year)

Father: Richard Beckinsale (actor; born on July 6, 1947; married in 1977; died on March 19, 1979 of a heart attack)

Mother: Judy Loe (actress; born on March 6, 1947)

Beckinsale was born in London to Judy Loe, a stage and television actress, and Richard Beckinsale, a well-known television actor who died in 1979 at the age of 31. She has a paternal half-sister, Samantha, who is also an actress. Beckinsale's paternal great-grandfather was Burmese, and Beckinsale claims that she was "very oriental-looking" as a child.

Beckinsale attended the private Godolphin and Latymer School, and in her teens twice won the W. H. Smith Young Writers' competition - once for three short stories and once for three poems. After a rebellious adolescence, including a period of anorexia and starting a smoking habit, she followed in the footsteps of her parents and began her acting career. Her first role was in One Against the Wind, a television film about World War II that was first aired in 1991. Having gained three language A levels, Beckinsale studied French and Russian literature at New College, Oxford University, though she did not finish her degree. She thought that having an academic background studying foreign language and literature would broaden her range of acting roles.

During her first year at Oxford, Beckinsale was offered a part in Kenneth Branagh's big-screen film, Much Ado About Nothing, adapted from the Shakespeare play. She spent her last year of studies in Paris, after which she decided to quit the university and concentrate on her acting career. She subsequently appeared in a few low-profile films, including Shooting Fish and The Last Days of Disco (both in 1998). During this time, Beckinsale also appeared in television films and in stage roles, including the well-received Cold Comfort Farm, opposite British silver and small screen notables Rufus Sewell, Eileen Atkins, and Joanna Lumley.

Her first major American film, Brokedown Palace (1999), was not a commercial success. Soon after, Beckinsale was cast in the 2001 film, Pearl Harbor, which was one of the highest grossing films of its year. In the years following, she appeared in a series of American films that were high-profile, but were given a somewhat poor critical reception, including Serendipity (2001), Underworld (2003) and Van Helsing (2004). Notably, she appeared as Ava Gardner in The Aviator, a role for which she gained 20 pounds.

In 2006, Beckinsale was placed at #78 in FHM magazine's "100 Sexiest Women in the World", after being #71 in 2005. She has also been placed at #16 in Maxim magazine's "HOT 100" (2003), #63 in Stuff Magazine's "100 Sexiest Women in the World" (2002), and was chosen by Hello magazine as "England’s #1 Beauty", also in 2002.

In January 2006, Beckinsale reprised her role as a vampire in the movie Underworld: Evolution, a sequel to her 2003 film, Underworld, again directed by her husband, Len Wiseman. The film opened at the #1 spot at the box office, grossing over $26 million in its first weekend of release.[2] On January 24, 2006, Beckinsale was featured on the MTV series, Punk'd. The set-up for the segment took place at the Avalon Hotel in Los Angeles.

Beckinsale's most recent role was in the Adam Sandler starring comedy, Click, which opened on June 23, 2006. Her next film will be Snow Angels, which is currently in post-production and will be released in 2006. A September 2006 article in the Hollywood Reporter announced that Beckinsale has signed on to replace Sarah Jessica Parker in the film Vacancy.

Beckinsale dated Welsh actor Michael Sheen for a long period of time, and the two have a daughter, Lily Mo Sheen (born 31 January 1999). Sheen co-starred with Beckinsale in Underworld, and had a flashback appearance in its sequel.

In June 2003, a few months after she had separated from Sheen, Beckinsale became engaged to the director of Underworld, Len Wiseman, and the two were married on 9 May 2004 in Bel-Air, California. [source]

Keira Knightley was cast due to her close resemblance to Natalie Portman, who played Padme; the two actresses' mothers had difficulty telling their daughters apart when they were heavily made up.

Keira Knightley's first starring role followed in 2001, when she played the daughter of Robin Hood in a made-for-television Walt Disney Productions feature, Princess of Thieves.

During this time period, Keira Knightley also appeared in The Hole, a thriller that received a direct-to-video release in the United States, and in a mini-series remake of Doctor Zhivago that was first aired in 2002.

The Jacket and Domino received mixed critical receptions and performed poorly at the box office, but Pride and Prejudice did well in the U.S. and opened at No. 1 in the UK box office, and is Keira Knightley's sixth film to do so.

She received a Best Actress - Comedy/Musical Golden Globes nomination and an Academy Award for Best Actress nomination for the role, though she did not win either.

Her Valentino gown at the 2006 Golden Globe Awards won her much acclaim and even landed her the top spot on Steven Cojocaru's "Best Dressed List" on Entertainment Tonight, while the dress she wore to the 2006 Academy Awards was recently donated to the charity Oxfam, where it raised £4,300.

EMILY BLUNT PROFILE

Emily Olivia Leah Blunt born 23 February 1983 is an English actress. Blunt's first major film role came in the British drama My Summer of Love (2004). She then appeared in The Devil Wears Prada (2006) for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe and a BAFTA. She has since appeared in a number of American and British productions, including Charlie Wilson's War (2007), The Young Victoria (2009), and The Wolfman (2010).

In 2007, Blunt won a Golden Globe Award for her performance in the 2005 BBC television film, Gideon's Daughter.

Personal life
Blunt was born in Roehampton, London, England. She is the second of four children born to Joanna Mackie, an English teacher and former actress, and barrister Oliver Simon Peter Blunt, QC, one of the highest-profile barristers in the UK. Her paternal uncle is Crispin Blunt, Conservative MP for Reigate.

Blunt previously shared a home with her ex-boyfriend, Canadian singer Michael Bublé,whom she first met in Melbourne backstage at the Australian television Logie Awards in 2005. She later provided background vocals on his cover of "Me and Mrs. Jones" on his album Call Me Irresponsible. In November 2008, Blunt began dating actor John Krasinski, after the pair were set up by Blunt's The Devil Wears Prada co-star Anne Hathaway. On 28 August 2009, Blunt and Krasinski announced their engagement. The couple married on 10 July 2010 in Italy, and live in the United States.

Career
At the age of 16, Blunt moved to Hurtwood House, a sixth-form college known for its performing arts programme. There, she was discovered by an agent. Blunt made her professional debut in Bliss, a new musical written by Paul Sellar, at the 2000 Edinburgh Fringe while she was still an A-level student. She went on to perform at the National Theatre and at Chichester Festival Theatre. In 2003, she made her screen debut in the British television drama Boudica, about the life of the ancient British warrior-queen who fought the Romans. She also won considerable praise for her performance as the 16th-century queen Catherine Howard in the two-part British television drama Henry VIII.

Blunt's breakout role was as Tamsin in the dark British movie, My Summer of Love in 2004, which depicted a story of deception and lesbian love in the English countryside. She shared an Evening Standard British Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer with co-star Natalie Press.

In 2005, she co-starred with Bill Nighy and Miranda Richardson in the British TV drama Gideon's Daughter, an original screenplay written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff, in which she played the troubled only child of New Labour spin doctor Gideon Warner, played by Nighy. Blunt won a Golden Globe for her performance.

In 2006, she appeared opposite Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in the box-office success The Devil Wears Prada. Streep and Hathaway received most of the critical attention initially, but Blunt proved to be equally memorable with Entertainment Weekly naming her the Best Female Scene-Stealer in their end-of-summer special issue. She appeared at the 79th Academy Awards where she co-presented the award for best costume design with her Prada co-star Hathaway. Blunt and Hathaway lost weight for their roles in the film. In an interview with Us Weekly, Hathaway said “I basically stuck with fruit, vegetables and fish (to slim down for the movie). I wouldn't recommend that. Emily Blunt and I would clutch at each other and cry because we were so hungry." Blunt also spoke about the weight loss, claiming she had to go "painfully thin".

Blunt co-starred with Susan Sarandon in the independent drama Irresistible. When Sarandon became attached to starring in another movie, The Girl In The Park, she strongly suggested that director David Auburn should cast Blunt. In 2007, she appeared in the film Charlie Wilson's War.

In 2009, she played Queen Victoria in The Young Victoria, directed by Jean-Marc Vallée and written by Julian Fellowes. The movie co-starred Miranda Richardson and Rupert Friend as the queen's husband, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. She also starred in the Toby Spanton-directed short film Curiosity. She was director Jon Favreau's first choice to play the Black Widow in Iron Man 2 but scheduling conflicts with Gulliver's Travels forced her to cede the role to Scarlett Johansson. In 2010, Blunt co-starred with Academy Award winners Benicio del Toro and Anthony Hopkins in the big-budget movie The Wolfman, which was released on 12 February. She also is set to star in Gulliver's Travels and in The Adjustment Bureau alongside Matt Damon as a ballet dancer "being mysteriously kept apart" from Damon's character. Blunt was offered the female lead in the forthcoming Captain America movie but turned it down. Her next film project is Lasse Hallström's Salmon Fishing in the Yemen alongside Kristin Scott Thomas and Ewan McGregor
