The Fundies Got to Liz!

You'd think they'd be preoccupied with miraculously healing her so she could walk again--or, bless her heart, performing an exorcism on that outfit--but all the Fundies want is Elizabeth Taylor's money!

Not sure how I feel about this. Liz, known for her philanthropy towards AIDS-related causes, just gave $100,000 to the Alliance for Christian Education. In a statement, she says she was inspired by President Obama's efforts to "reach across the aisle." OK, I guess I can respect that on some level. But by giving these Fundies money, you only encourage them. They'll take your money and then continue on their merry, deluded way.

According to its site, the Alliance for Christian Education wishes to:

"Encourage the teaching of a Christian perspective within the public and private secular school system."

Can they be any more blatant?! These Fundies not only want money for their own brainwashing laboratories (and I attended one, so I can say that with authority), but they also want to infiltrate all other private schools and even secular education! Allegedly, Liz's donation is earmarked for something called "global outreach" but whatever--giving money is complicit support!

I might commend Liz for her big-heartedness if I felt that her generosity would lead to a similar gesture from the other side--but it won't. Because for the Fundies, "reaching across the aisle" is tantamount to sleeping with Satan.
